Not investment advice
SIFTed.Options is a software tool that filters and scores publicly available options market data according to criteria you select. It is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner, and it does not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice.
Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell any security, nor a solicitation of an offer to buy or sell any security. No content here is tailored to the financial situation, investment objectives, risk tolerance or particular needs of any individual. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions, and you should consider obtaining advice from a licensed professional before acting on anything you see here.
Options carry substantial risk
Options are not suitable for every investor. Selling options — including cash-secured puts and covered calls, which is what this tool screens for — carries risk that is not limited to the premium received.
- Selling a put obligates you to buy shares at the strike price regardless of how far the stock has fallen. Your loss can substantially exceed the premium.
- Selling a covered call caps your upside at the strike price while leaving your downside in the shares unchanged.
- Options can expire worthless, and positions may be assigned early. Market conditions may make it impossible to close a position at a reasonable price.
- You can lose more than your initial investment.
Before trading options, read Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options, published by the Options Clearing Corporation, and consult your broker.
No performance promise
The SIFT Score is a relative ranking produced by applying fixed criteria to market data. A higher score is not a prediction of profit, a probability of success, or a measure of suitability for you. It is a sorting aid.
Any past output of the screen, any historical market data shown, and any backtested figure is not a guide to future results. Backtested performance is hypothetical, is prepared with the benefit of hindsight, does not reflect actual trading, and does not account for slippage, commissions, assignment, or the effect of your own orders on the market. No outcome is promised or implied.
The data
Market data is obtained from third-party providers and may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect. Every result records the freshness of the data it was produced from, and figures marked as indicative or recorded are exactly that — they are not the consolidated exchange tape and should not be relied on as executable prices.
Where a contract’s implied volatility or greeks are not supplied by the provider, SIFTed derives them from the quote midpoint using a standard pricing model. Derived values are recorded as derived. They are estimates.
No brokerage relationship
SIFTed.Options does not connect to your brokerage account, cannot place, modify or cancel orders, does not hold customer funds or securities, and has no discretionary authority over any account. Any trade you place is entered by you, in your own account, at your own risk.
Paper tracking
Where the tool shows the performance of a contract you chose to follow, those figures are hypothetical. They assume a fill at the quote midpoint with no commission, no slippage, no assignment and no early exercise, and they do not represent a trade that was placed. Real results differ.
Third parties and forward-looking statements
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience; SIFTed.Options does not endorse and is not responsible for their content. Statements about what the product will do in future are intentions, not commitments, and may change.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, get in touch — we would rather answer a question than have somebody guess. We cannot, however, answer questions about what you personally should do with your money.
